This book was supposedly found on a set of golden plates in 1823 by Joseph Smith and translated by him from a language only he could read (which he translated with the help of "crystals" mounted in wire rimmed spectacles). These plates detailed an account of the people of Nephi, and also of the Lamanites, written to the Lamanites, which were a remnant of the House of Israel, and also to Jew and Gentiles alike.

If there is one thing I can't abide, it's 'nonfiction' books that are written with scrying (seer) stones.

I classify this book as a fictional story and the single greatest source of hypocrisy on the face of the planet.

No offense to any Mormon who may read the review...it's not personal. It's just that I have a higher regard for historical integrity than golden plates and seeing eye stones.
