I was given a free copy by the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Overall I think that there is the basis of a good story here. However, this first book in the series has quite a few flaws in my opinion. I like fast paced, action filled adventures. Broken Aro is for the large part slow and devoid of action and excitement. Now it may well be that the subsequent books in the series are action packed and fast paced, but I am unlikely to read them.

I found the style of writing to lack fluency at times, occasionally breaking into short staccato sentences. And then there is the question of editing, which has been inadequate at best and this is one thing that really puts me off reading a book. When reviewing, I highlight spelling mistakes, typos, missing words, repeated words, etc. and found that by the end of the book there was quite a lot of yellow spread across the pages.

Having finished the book, there is a part of me that wants to find out what becomes of Aro, Kei and the others, but there is another that is winning the argument against.
