Reading this book was like having a master of seduction, a virtuoso of foreplay, as a lover. A lover who spends SO much time and energy on the front end that he collapses in sheer exhaustion before 'sealing the deal'.

Unfortunately, this book embodies that "I-had-high-hopes-but-now-you-are-snooring-on-my-couch-at-6pm-on-a-Friday man."

In all seriousness.

I'm no mathematician, but the ratio of rising action to actual climax seems way off to me. I had huge hopes for this book. All the elements were there, and some were damn near perfect. Alas, she wasn't able to pull it together. Sigh! Hiss! Boo!

I still highly recommend The Forgotten Garden, though. Much more enjoyable to read, less fluff, and an actual climax!
