If you've read "The Story of O," feel free to skip this book. While at times the author briefly touches on her emotions and the effects of being in a D/s sexual relationship, the vast majority of the book is just porn, and if you want porn, "The Story of O" is better. I was hoping for some insightful prose about from where she thinks her submissive tendencies arise or how she deals with the cognitive dissonance of being a strong independent woman who likes being beaten and humiliated by her partners. Nothing of the sort.
My other objection to the book is stylistic. This book reads more like a very long newspaper or magazine article than an autobiography. I get that the author is a journalist by profession, but hiring an editor who would make the book read more like a book would have been a good idea.
