Wow. This is a beautiful book. The author dusts off an ancient philosophy and shifts your understanding of it. I thought stoics as silent sufferers who suppressed their feelings. What Irvine does is fill the sketch in. And the similarities to buddhism are striking. He unearths the joy in stoicism for modern readers.
