it was amazing
bookshelves: classicsilove
Read in January, 1995

My first Nabakov book after Lolita, and it kicked my ass. I've reread it twice now (most recently 2 years ago) and I can finally handle it. It's the most ingeniously conceived book I've ever read and full-fledged (though unnecessary) proof that Nabakov has got unparalleled chops. The high-water mark for the creepy, unreliable narrator and a much, much more.
