This is a realistic Christian fiction selection. I read Christian fiction occassionally as my girlfriends from my church group lend it to me. I usually like the stories, but sometimes I finish them thinking that the conflicts are not real enough and that the plot is too simplistic. This book is not like that. There are many more characters - fairly well developed - with multiple plot lines. The story mostly follows Allie and Jack, who were in love as young adults. Allie was scared of commitment, so she takes off for 30 years. When she returns to her hometown, she finds Jack a bitter man who has lost his faith. A decent, quick read. Boeshaar has also written Hidden Things, which I may try sometime.
