The Stand: Complete And Uncut is one of the few books that I still refer to when anyone asks me what I like to read. All philosophical and symbolic riff raff aside (yes, it's about the wiping out of and struggle for the good in humanity, take that and roll with it whatever way you like), it's a straight-up dealing-with-the-apocolypse book that really has no equal.
Focusing on the survivors of a so-called Super Flu, The Stand deals with the epic forthcoming battle between good and evil from both perspectives, cleverly intertwining man's deepest emotions, from love to loathing to complete indifference. This warhorse of a book is something that Stephen King should be proud to have written.
