** spoiler alert ** LOVE the first paragraph. Talk about a hook!

The story itself Is very suspenseful and emotionally jarring in parts. I really loved the way Lo uses bird imagery every so often during the story bringing you back to what started the entire novel off. I would recommend this for older, more mature readers. This is one I feel pretty safe saying is for 10th grade and up. Especially since it has a homosexual relationship that might make some readers uncomfortable. (I teach middle school English in a small West Texas town so this wouldn't even go over well at the high school.). That being said I really enjoyed this book and really loved sharing the first page, as well as some other well written parts, with my students for the simple craft of the writing even though I wouldn't let them read this book because I'd rather not lose my job.

Really enjoyed reading and thinking about all the twists the book was taking and trying to predict wherein would go next. I'm happy to say that Lo kept me guessing and threwin a few curve balls to boot!
