Didn't like the characters - can't remember where I read a recommendation for this book. They weren't nice at all, and yeah, sometimes people aren't nice but they spent so much time apart - 10 yrs - detesting each other I'm suddenly supposed to believe they suddenly get on?

new_user Yeah, I can see your point. The book does dip into sad straits for a while. These characters are in conflict for a good portion of the book, but I felt there were such high stakes (she shows us the good times) that we're invested in the story, you know? We want to see them back together. There were points where I wondered whether they were breaking up for good, but you can tell they've lose their feelings for each other. Hate is the other side of the coin, right?
