I listened to this on tape, in my car. It's been a long time since I read anything by P. D. James. She is a nice change from Martha Grimes. James has a much better way of putting you in the scene and making her characters real. The story was nicely paced, and included a lot of action and tense moments. A lot of people died, and one part I found kind of hard to believe. I don't know why I haven't read more books by this author. I guess I was on my Dorothy Sayers kick and wasn't interested. But now I will read more novels by P. D. James. The book was read by Tammy Ustinov. Her performance was OK; technically good and a nice voice to listen to, but it seemed sometimes as if she were reading words that didn't actually mean anything to her.
