I've never read any Lovecraft and this book was pitched as a very accessible intro to the Cthullu mythology, which I have to agree it was. The story was spooky, but not overly detailed until the end. I think it could have benefited from being a bit longer since the ending seemed a bit rushed. But it was enjoyable and creepy, which is, I gather, the point of Lovecraft.
