It's not really a mystery series. It's a light-hearted allegory about the human condition, featuring the "traditonally-built" Bostwana detective Mma Ramotswe. It also manages to be diverting fun.

I think this series has made Red Bush Tea a major African export, which I think it would have never become since it is so bitter.

It probably hasn't hurt the Bostwana tourism industry either.
