Our next book discussion book. I enjoyed the economy of her language. With a few well considered sentences she suggests the arc of a characters life as they slip out of the narrative. As I was reading I kept thinking of it as a woman's version of the movie "Dead Man" or a Cormac McCarthy book. The main character is on a solitary journey through the United States, but instead of meeting all sorts of nilistic unkindess, the people she meets often show an unexpected compassion. That makes it sounds much more dippy than it is...
