Was pretty much ok but felt it was trying too hard to be something it could never be. I also didn't think there was much of a story line. It was good to find out what the boys were up to before the Trainspotting years but to be honest it didn't warrant a long novel to tell us. Felt it dragged on a bit and could see it was a bit of a struggle for Welsh to get through to the end. Ok it was funny and dramatic in parts but just had something missing. Great to see Begbie and all the old characters but I guess going back to something that was as amazing as Trainspotting could never have been done.

Gillian Forsyth Any good?? Loved Trainspotting - the film was garbage the book excellent! And some of the others from same era but havent been too impressed with later works: glue - was that the one with sick boy n begbie back in it?? Well anyway i didnt like every chapter the overly gratuitous slaggin of both Weedgies and Smackheads.. Coke's the thing now dontcha know lol.. And referring back to the mid nineties in flashback memories he kept calling heroin "brown" which is inaccurate as there were no other coloured powders commonly available to the poor folk - coke n crack craze had yet to happen so no "white" thus no need to colour code drugs for doot doots lol!! Dunno just put me off him had a forgotten who got him where he was today attitude.. But if you recommend this one I'll give him another chance! :) xxGxx
