Mieville's best in the 3-part Bas-Lag series. (I hesitate to call it a trilogy, since the 3 books are independent stories with some interconnectedness, but different protagonists and settings within a shared world.)

It really has everything. Vampires; pirates on a floating city made of lashed-together boats; a rip in the fabric of reality on the other side of the ocean; horrible monstrosities from the deep; a dark, brooding swordsman with an impossible weapon and skills; the list goes on and on... Even the fabulous Weaver makes an appearance.

The prose is solid, the characters fascinating, and the story paced well. Highly recommended.
