I thought this book was absolutely wonderful, if rather depressing. I was so happy to see Ursula emancipated, but I know that the book wasn't really focused on her. It was focused on the real man behind Gerald Candless and the traumatic event that changed his life - and would go in to define so many others' lives - forever.

I highly recommend this book, which kept me guessing until a page or so before the truth was confirmed.
