I suspect that reviews of this book will be heavily biased by the fact that its target audience are its fans. There are certainly lighter (and less expensive) ways to introduce someone to Dilbert, such as reading the latest strips online at Dilbert.com. But this is a nice crash course to lend to a friend who isn't familiar with the comic series--and the accompanying CD with every Dilbert comic from 1989-2008 is definitely something to cherish.

The book itself is a selection of Dilbert comics during its 20-year run, along with a lengthy introduction and annotations to some of the comics by Scott Adams. The book is worth buying for the introduction alone--Adams has discussed various parts before, but here he puts together a single, cohesive history of how he became the creator of internationally-renowned Dilbert.

There is very little to say beyond that. If you love Dilbert, it's a foregone conclusion you'll enjoy this book--you may not like every single comic in it (I certainly don't), but I especially enjoyed the opportunity to see Dilbert comics from the strip's earliest days (I was born in 1989 and wasn't much of a reader back then!). On the other hand, if you dislike Dilbert ... why would you spend $60 on a book exclusively devoted to something you dislike?! Go spend it elsewhere--I won't complain!

A must-have for Dilbert fans.
