I guess this is what some folks are calling Urban fantasy these days. I'm sure that for those who like this sort of thing it's pretty good. But it's not my cup of tea. I first read a later book in Hamilton's series and found it really boring, and then a friend said, oh, you've got to try the early books. I tried this, the first one, and it wasn't compelling, although I thought it was better than the later one.
By the way, it's certainly well written. The characters are well drawn. It's just not about a subject matter that interests me.
