I've been teaching an essay of Lasch's, "The Lost Art of Argument," for a couple semesters now, and so my love for that essay led me to picking up this book. Surprisingly easy to read, this book takes a very serious look at the narcissistic nature of american culture spread across the entire spectrum from family unit to sports to education; Lasch doesn't really dodge anything. Definitely a book I'll be coming back to again and again in my own research and criticism.
