Well written, and engrossing at times, but ultimately, I just didn't 'get' the story. I'm not sure if it's a cultural difference, or if I'm just that stupid. By the end, I was just tired of reading it and frustrated.

TK421 I can appreciate your honesty. I love Bolano's works, but I have never reviewed any that I've read because I really don't know if I "read" them or just looked at a grouping of words that form sentences. Perhaps one day I will add them to my read shelf, until then, they will remain on my to-read shelf, as I beleive another reading will give me the proper foundation needed to adequately review such books.

Trudi Hmmmm, this one has come across my radar a few times this year and I've been tempted to see what all the fuss is about, but your two stars give me pause. I love "story", and if it's difficult to tease one out of this thing, I'm likely to get frustrated and throw it aside.
