I love this series, although it's not for everyone. The second book was the weakest - it had a plot knitted with size 30 needles. Sandman Slim's character is unaffected, yet not annoying so. He's a terminal good guy without admitting it and with bad guy ways of doing things. There's potential for angst-y naval gazing, but somehow it never tips over into that. It's smart, and violent and funny.
