Quite an interesting read this one. A vampire book with a dash of necromancy and a strong female lead and an awesome grandma! Gotta love strong old ladies that kick arse!

This book is more about old style vampires, and stays true to most of the old myths, not changing as many things, they can't see their reflection, they can't stand the sun (no sparkling involved thankfully) and the usual.

I really liked how the story progressed and how Amaliya growns from confused fledging into powerful vampire.

Also nice is the fact that it's a story that can be read on its own, but also has a continuation book coming up, so we can find out more, but we're left with a rounded story in this one.
