Funny, painful, optimistic, and profound. In one vignette, Latina girls create myths about hips while double-dutching. I would love this book for that story alone but it touches on much more, including several serious topics--all related to the precariousness of becoming a confident, young woman in an environment that expects little and takes as much as possible. Worth reading many times over.
