Wonderful! Set during the Viet Nam War- Holling is the only kid remaining at school when the rest of the class goes off to various religious study classes off campus. He knows in his heart of hearts that his teacher Mrs. Baker wants the time alone (he does not know then that she is worried about her husband who is fighting in Viet Nam) when she decides to keep him busy by reading Shakespeare's plays he decides that she Hates Him. As time passes amid hilarious and sometimes appalling - remember its middle school- events Holling comes to appreciate Shakespeare and the friendship of Mrs. Baker. Very satisfying.
