It's the best David Foster Wallace biography out there.

Some of the writing is weird or feels kind of distanced. There were definitely things I learned about Wallace from this book that I did not know before, but probably could have found out elsewhere. I wouldn't really say I "enjoyed" it or couldn't-put-it-down though. Maybe that is appropriate, given David's mistrust of entertainment.

I mean, if you're a fan of David's writing, you're probably going to read this regardless of the reviews. You'll read it not for the Max's writing, but for Wallace's. And when you realized David died almost exactly 4 years ago, it is OK when you feel confused, sad, and a bit nauseated.
