This is an incredible story about a real-life conservationist who established a 5,000 acre wild animal reserve called Thula Thula in South Africa and saved a herd of elephants from execution because they were so wild. Anthony relates many stories about Thula Thula's beginnings--the taming of the elephants, the arrival of the elephant babies, encounters with poisonous snakes, difficulties with the local tribes, and his beautiful partner from France, Francoise, who helped him turn the reserve into a tourist venue. Anthony died recently and his elephant friends came to his home from many miles away to stand quietly for days as a memorial to his work with them and to his friendship. Anthony's first book was Babylon's Ark, an account of his rescue of a wartime zoo.
