I’m amazed how much I liked this book. Amazed because some of my GR friends didn’t like it. Amazed because I’m not a big fan of McKenna, so I had my doubts from the beginning. McKenna’s Uber-Alpha heroes tend to be brutes. I have to say I love what the heroine of this novel said to the hero when she’d had enough of his Uberness and couldn’t take any more. “You’re a cold, vicious bastard,” she said before she turned her back on him and walked away.

You go, girl!! Okay, what’s really funny is I wrote this review two weeks ago before my own quickie divorce (from an Uber-Alpha) and marriage (to a yummy Gamma) on my blog. Last Wednesday night I felt exactly the same way she did and could have said the very same thing. Freaky! LOL

Okay, this is the first novel in the McCloud series. Seth McKay is after two very bad men who murdered his brother, a cop. Raine is after one of those men, who murdered her father. Both are pretending to be something they’re not. They meet under dangerous circumstances and cannot get enough of each other in bed or out.

One thing I really liked about this novel was all the sex in it (gee, what a surprise, right? *lusty grin*). Another thing I liked is how Raine stood up to Seth’s attacks of Uber-idiocy. Wow, been there done that, ya know? Especially after last week (shakes my head). Seth would say something horribly mean in an Uber fit, and she would come right back at him. Loved it! The cool thing is she’s not an Alpha, so she didn’t respond by screaming at him at the top of her lungs like an Alpha. Nope, she just responded calmly and intelligently like a Gamma. I loved it! I was rooting like a cheerleader for the girl. And she did not disappoint.

I still find it amazing I wrote this review two weeks ago, and it has been sitting on my desk while I’ve been too busy to post it. Then I actually experienced what I liked best about this novel last week with my ex-husband, the Uber. The timing of all this is just too freaky, isn’t it? LOL
