Charming, melancholy fairy-tale of a book: girl is raised by bears and dragons, wanders through a landscape that is loosely that of Dark Ages Europe. The back copy suggests Diana Wynne Jones, Harry Potter, and The Sword in the Stone as comparisons, but I think closer reference points might be The Last Unicorn, The Hobbit, and Astrid Lindgren's Ronia, the Robber's Daughter, with a bit of Rosemary Sutcliff thrown in.
