23 Things is an excellent and very readable crash course in modern economics. The author structures each chapter (or Thing) with a provocative statement ("There is no free market", "the U.S. does not have the highest living standard in the world" , "Companies should not be run in the interest of their owners") and then builds a strong case for the proof of that point.
Chang, like any economist, comes from a certain point of view. Chang seems to be a Keynesian who believes in government's ability to strengthen (as well as weaken) a nation's economy. Of the economics books I've read this year, this is the best.
