Wanda This is kismet! The Caliph's Splendor is on my Barnes & Noble wish-list! And, now I see you are reading it. What is your opinion so far?

message 2: by Liviu (new) - added it

Liviu I read carefully more than half of it and I went fast through it all - it is written well as style and while it is quite on the "sensational" side, it fits well with the Arabian Nights (huge favorite of mine and one of the defining books of my childhood that made me love the exotic epic); narrative history well done but with the limitations of such in the sense that one can argue it is closer to fiction than non-fiction
