This books aren't great, or anything I'd really read again, but I do enjoy the authenticity of the voice. I could definitely seeing these characters as being real people and it makes me want to read the books just to see what happens. Lauren Myracle definitely has the knack for writing teenage girls. The story was interesting and it did keep me reading because I wanted to see where things would lead, but it was a little too all wrapped up at the end and happily ever after. It works for the books, but takes some of the authenticity away when everyone does the right thing in the end and all the major problems are resolved by good decision making. I understand the books are meant for Young adults, so I get why they're written that way, but I expected a little more fight from Maddie and a little more risk for Zoe. Everyone was saved, so to speak, by either their parents or luck. Anyways, a fun, short read with solid voices.
