A House in the Night was a book that caught my attention because of the illustrations on the front. As I flipped through the pages before reading, i noticed that all the pages were black and white, except for a few objects that were glowing yellow. As I read about this little house in the night I was captivated by the little girl's journey into the house which led her to a book that took her away with a bird that flew her to the moon and sang her a song of the "star filled night". As the bird brought her back to the house and went back into the book, the little girl found herself tracing the steps back from the sun on the moon, moon in the dark, bird in the book, and so on and so forth, until her mom tucked her into bed.
This would be a wonderful book to read children because like many children's picturebooks, it shows them that reading can take their minds anywhere they want!
