This book is all over the place. I listened to it because it arrived in our library from JLG, and I figured this would be a good way to read it without expending too much effort. The reader does a great job, but the author keeps adding layer upon layer of plot twists. One of my 8th-graders checked it out yesterday...I will be interested to see if he sticks with it. Without ever having read Harlan Coben, another of my critiques would be that he starts out making this seem like a novel totally suited to younger teens -- sanitizes language, romance, etc. -- and then throws in one or two plot lines of fairly grown-up subject matter. Of course I am coming at this from a middle school perspective...
