Tod Munn has been assigned to detention with a guidance counselor after getting caught with his friends breaking into his school. The story is told completely through the entries in the journal the counselor makes him write during detention. A self-proclaimed bully, Tod starts writing about his exploits and eventually, his personal life. He writes with the unique voice of a teen who has given up ever being able to escape his difficult life and who cannot appreciate the talents that he has. As an adult I found the story a very interesting look inside the bullying culture of a school, but I'm not sure that teens will connect with reflections on bullying rather than actual action. Also, the surprise ending of who the main bully turns out to be came without any warning and could have been set up better. An interesting look inside what makes a bully and the struggles that they also have.
