it was amazing

I read this one because I read an obituary for the author, and this novel came up in conversation as a good one to try. The book is excellent, but it is also filled exclusively with unhappy, hateful people and miserable situations. The protagonist is a former high school football star in the small town of Mystic, Georgia. The big event is the annual rattlesnake hunt which attracts tourists from all around.

I recommend this book highly, but not to those with weak stomachs, nor to those who want likeable characters.
