This is a difficult one to rate.

If you are a fan of "Unwind" then this is a little side story that is a bit interesting but doesn't really add or subtract from the original story. It is more of a curiousity piece.

The characters are well put together though for some reason they never really gelled for me. The Indian/Native American background added a bit of shading to the proceeding but it all felt a little disjointed. I know that Neal Shusterman wrote this with someone else and to be honest, it kind of felt that it was written by someone else.

It is not terrible or great. It just a small refrain in a grand concerto. The real buy is the sneak preview for Unwholly, a wet your whistle chapter that makes you excited about the next installment of this great series.

Overall, if you are a fan of Unwind than this is an interesting trinket to read through. If you are not a fan, this will not win you over.

Do not read if you have not read Unwind as it will not make much sense and will run key plot points of the main book.
