An examination of one city at a very specific time in history, and several of its inhabitants--Crown Prince Rudolf, Freud, Brahms, Bruckner, Klimt, Mahler, Schonberg, Schnitzler and Herzl, and even, at the very end, Adolf Hitler. I wanted to read this specifically because part of the novel I'm writing takes place at exactly this time in exactly this place, and as a resource for details and imagery, it didn't disappoint.
