Jane is not pretty or rich but she has everything she wants. She loves to read and learn and share her knowledge with others. When she is finished with school she is happy to become the governess of Thornfield mansion. It has always bothered me that she falls in love with Mr. Rochester and goes back to him in the end.

Charlotte Brontë
“Jane, be still; don't struggle so like a wild, frantic bird, that is rending its own plumage in its desperation."
"I am no bird; and no net ensnares me; I am a free human being, with an independent will; which I now exert to leave you.”
Charlotte Brontë, Jane Eyre
