** spoiler alert ** I loved this book. I feel like every Tessa Dare book becomes my favorite until I read another one and then that is my favorite. But Kate and Thorne's story was still special. There is definitely a hint of Jane Eyre to the book but happily a much better ending. Kate Taylor makes her living as the music tutor in Spindle Cove feeling like there was a secret in her past that she needed to unlock. It turns out that Corporal Thorne was the key all along but not before she discovers that she is actually the heiress to a Marquess! I was worried all through reading it that Kate's new relatives would be dreadful (and since I was liking them it would have been awful) but they turned out all right in the end. Mostly I loved that Kate ultimately had to accept (and discover a way) to get everything she wanted. And Thorne had to go on the same journey to be able to truly accept her. These were two characters who deserved a happily ever after, and had to work hard for it.
