Very, very interesting. MUCH better than I thought it would be.

Since I finished it several months ago, I don't remember many details, but I do remember being impressed with the slant that the author took; a lot of info about the mental state of the average Soviet soldier and how that mental state came about via propoganda and the Soviet system. Just some unbelievable stuff that went on, both before and after the war.

Still more impressive is the fact that all the background documents dealing with Stalinist Russia still haven't been released. Some have, but not all, so this is really only a glimpse of life for each of these soliders.

Highly recommended to read.
