Rick Grimes, the friendly neighborhood sheriff awakes from a coma to find the world readily gone to pot. Tony Moore did a brilliant job of portraying the depth of shock and despair, Grimes goes through as he first experiences, grieves and then accepts the new world. Sometimes all achieved within three panels.

As the characters are introduced, each has such a specific personality and the demons of dealing with the new world are apparent in every interaction. The consequences are steep for every choice made and the balance of denial and acceptance is a razor’s edge.
