I had no idea what to expect about this book, and it surprised me with its emotional depth and warmth, and with how much I related to the characters. It is a story about sisters, and summer, and first kisses, but the totally hum-drum quality of that makes it feel much closer, and more intimately familiar... it's hard to talk about without spoiling anything, though. I found the graphic novel chapters a bit confusing at first, but continued reading in the faith that they would begin to make sense, and their relation to the story soon became much clearer. They were also beautifully done, and worth studying carefully. This had some great writing in it, and it was a unique reading experience.
