Re-read for the Stephen King Book Club, but I hadn't read it since the first time, which was 15+ years ago. Yee-ow, it's still scary--I finished it about ten days ago and haven't really slept right since. It also still has some good, good characters; I have an especial fondness for the young Stan Uris, and of course, Ben Hascomb (though neither is my Stephen King Boyfriend, a spot reserved for Alan Pangborn).
The problems most people have with the book are the same ones I have--that ending!--and it does go ON AND ON. There's much more good than bad, but boy, I would probably LOVE a 700-page version.
