"The Battle for Skandia" written by John Flanagan is the fourth book in the Ranger's Apprentice Series. The book is a realistic fiction book about a young boy named Will who is being mentored by the legendary Halt. It takes place in a far off land of midevil times. In this book Will, Evanlyn, Halt, and Horace must face a hoard of the most promising warriors in the land. Will takes control of over 100 un-trained artisans and turns them into spot-on precision archers. He ends up nearly being killed while losing around 75 men in the savage battle. Even though will was only a boy of fourteen or fifteen years of age he has the offer to become a full ranger but decides to stay with Halt instead and continue to train with him. I think the moral of this story is that even though Will is a younger being he can still change an outcome that saves an entire race. I loved this book and the others of the series because it is a great story that interests me and keeps me on the end of my size 8 shoes. Will is my favorite character because of the way he perseveres, and by the way he sets goals no one else thinks are possible. I would recommend this story to anyone who wants to read a story about an adventurous person who overcomes things of epic proportion.
