I hadn't read a James Patterson book in a few years, though they always catch my eye, and this one was, according to the book jacket, the thriller he was born to write (or born to outline and have someone else write? does it matter?) I was enjoying it immensely until the ridiculous reason for the animal attacks was revealed. It was the most contrived, silly, fake-sounding reason imaginable. As in I thought there would have to be another big reveal later on to redeem all the excitement of the earlier pages, but no, just a great premise with a boring resolution. Oh, and a heavy handed lesson tacked on at the end.
I'll stick to Alex Cross on my next foray into Patterson because that series is actually pretty great (for what it is).
