really liked it
Read in December, 2008

David Sedaris finds a way to take a small incident (like giving directions to a lost tourist or escorting a lost child back to his parents) and make a story of it. These personal essays are, of course, funny, but they're also very well crafted. Sedaris gives wonderful detail, but at the same time, the writing is spare. I love his stuff. He makes wonderful characters out of people (in particular, his family).

Dress Your Family... is similar to Sedaris's other books. For me, this is a good thing. If you've liked his other stuff, I expect you'll like this.
