Pat Benatar's memoir is driving and aggressive in an attractive way. You have to sympathize with her - and every other band - for the way her music company knocked her around. It occurred to me, reading this, that music companies don't have to care that they are driving their bands into the ground. There are always other young bands willing to sign their lives away for a chance to head the marquee.

But above everything for Benatar is the music. She has found a way that pleases her, to keep making music the way she and her husband want to make it.
