This book was a quirky exploration of the world with a lot of silliness (not in a bad way) in both the story and premise. It is a little hard to swallow the many cultural stereotypes riddled throughout this book, but given when this book was written I just ignored the outlandishly British-centric viewpoints and enjoyed the story. There are a lot of historical facts that make the book interesting as well. I liked the eccentric continent-hopping and overall enjoyed the spirit of exploration that underlies the journey, even though the main voyager has no intent to explore anything.
