It's been a while since I read this one. And truth be told reading it at age 14 was probably not the best move in the world, but I had a teacher who loved it and applauded me loudly for singing "Master of the House".

Most of my enjoyment from this book stemmed from the setting, and Hugo's brilliant way of weaving the revolutionary nature of French society into personal narratives.

Most of my distaste for this book stems from the fact that I was 14 years old and this book seemed hella long at that point.
